Thy Mya is a little ship designed for research in the wadden sea. It is a catamaran and the shape of the hull also allows the continuation of the experiments in the wadden sea at low tide. The ship can stand on the sediment until the next high tide allows the continuation of the cruise. During a biological seminar on island Sylt we made a short excursion with the Mya to catch fish and other inhabitant of the wadden sea. Click on thumbnails to see the pictures in full size.

This is the part of the wadden sea where we made our experients. During this excursion we had to find out, if the composition of the macrofauna change in one week, when the number of heart mussels increase dramatically. In the foreground the testfields with and without the mussels can be seen.
